Octopus launches its Absolute Return Fund with Skandia

Octopus has launched its CF Octopus Partner Fund (Absolute Return) on Skandia's Investment Solutions platform. The Fund is also available via the Royal Skandia offshore platform.

Lothar Mentel, Chief Investment Officer at Octopus, said: "The Fund has consistently been the number one performing fund in the absolute return sector since its launch in March 2008. Over the last twelve months* the Fund has returned 42.08% (versus cash at 1.32% and the FTSE All-Share at 30.12%). We believe it will continue to meet its aim of delivering a positive return in all stock market conditions over the longer term. It's really great news that the fund is now available through Skandia's Selestia platform, which will broaden the Fund's availability significantly."

The Fund is managed by David Crawford, who has over twelve years of investment experience. The Fund is a ‘long/short' fund; it can take advantage of the opportunity to invest in derivatives providing both long (bought) and synthetic short (sold) positions.

David Crawford commented: "I look to invest in companies or shares that, after analysis, I consider to be mispriced by the market and for which there is a clear and likely catalyst to correct the mispricing. This past year has seen extraordinarily volatile market conditions which have enabled me to provide exceptional returns. The Fund aims to return 10% - 15% per annum which should be achievable in more normal market conditions."
