Does inheritance tax affect me?

Seventy-four per cent of people aren't informed about inheritance tax (Source: unbiased.co.uk), yet Parliamentary records show that for those estates that did pay tax, the average amount of inheritance tax paid is around £100,000 (2007). With only the first £325,000 of an individual's estate exempt from tax, many people are finding that they are falling into the taxable bracket as a result of the increase in the value of their homes.

What are the issues?

With inheritance tax planning, it pays to be ahead of the game. And, for clients over 60, time is of the essence: people need quick tax solutions, access to their money if circumstances change, and a safe investment from a product they understand. Plus, in today's turbulent economic climate, they want something that keeps their wealth secure, so that they can pass all of their hard-earned money on to their loved ones.

Most inheritance tax products are slow off the mark. Clients' money is locked away in complex structures, where they have little control or access, which can take up to seven years to fall outside their estate.

The Octopus Inheritance Tax Service delivers inheritance tax exemption in just two years and does not lock your money away or put it out of your control.

What can Octopus offer?

Investments are exempt from inheritance tax after just two years, and clients always retain access to, and control of, their money. The product has been designed to provide a net return of 3% per annum (after all charges), and clients can even choose between an income or growth option. Such is our confidence, that Octopus will contribute up to 3% to make up any shortfall in this return.
