Ventures Team

The Ventures team manages the Octopus Titan VCTs 1, 2 and 3, all designed to deliver strong returns to investors through investment into early stage UK smaller companies.

The team has a strong track record with an average annual rate of return of 29% per annum. It works with support from a dedicated Octopus Investor Group, which provides many competitive advantages, screening over 2,500 opportunities each year to select a handful of great investments for the fund.

Jo focuses on assessing potential investee companies, deal structuring and negotiation and portfolio management and has overall responsibility for the Octopus Venture Partners.

He is an entrepreneur who has extensive experience of working with and investing in smaller companies, and has been a member of the Octopus Investor Group for a number of years. He has founded several businesses and has also held senior roles in equity research at Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. He also previously worked at Arthur Anderson.

Jo graduated with BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from Durham University. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

He represents Octopus on the boards of 21Net, iProfile, GetOptics and AQS (Soil Xchange).
