Ventures Team

The Ventures team manages the Octopus Titan VCTs 1, 2 and 3, all designed to deliver strong returns to investors through investment into early stage UK smaller companies.

The team has a strong track record with an average annual rate of return of 29% per annum. It works with support from a dedicated Octopus Investor Group, which provides many competitive advantages, screening over 2,500 opportunities each year to select a handful of great investments for the fund.

Alex has overall responsibility for early stage investments at Octopus, and focuses on assessing potential investee companies, deal structuring and negotiation and portfolio management with a view to maximizing the returns that are generated.

He has extensive experience of investing into smaller companies. Prior to joining Octopus, he worked for ten years at SG Warburg as a trade and risk manager in equity derivatives, and later founded a growth consultancy for small businesses, assisting a number of small businesses with their financing requirements prior to taking up his current position.

Alex represents Octopus on the boards of Calastone, Future Route and Fractal Edge.
