Octopus has developed a number of internal business systems in-house using Metastorm BPM and C#. These include the core CRM system and application processing systems. As the company grows there are increasing demands on the development team and a role has therefore become available for someone with experience in the following technologies: • Metastorm BPM (e-work) (ideally but not essential) • C# or VB.NET • SQL Server The role will encompass both development and support of existing business systems. The core processing elements of the systems are developed using Metastorm BPM however there are increasingly integration pieces that are written in .NET.

The role will involve a variety of day to day general compliance duties relevant to a retail fund management business, specifically concentrating on the provision of compliance advisory support to the various business units. The Operational Risk Manager will take full ownership for designing and managing this function. Including; • Analysing temporary and emerging risks as a result of internal change and external events • Devising and recommending process and control improvements necessary to reduce operational risk • Managing the data contained in the Incident Management System and prepare clear, concise and accurate incident reports for internal committees and boards • Undertake adhoc business risk reviews as required, advising on business processes, incident history and risk trends • Liaise with staff and management at all levels in relation to risk management and the business environment This is an exciting opportunity for you to build and own a new function in a growing and dynamic organisation.

While sitting within the wider Compliance function and reporting to the Head of Compliance this role will take responsibility for the management of the internal auditing process, overseeing all general audit duties relevant to a retail fund management business. We are looking for candidates who have experience working within Retail Fund Management and confidence and tenacity to work fairly autonomously in this role.

The Specialist Finance team currently manages c£700m raised from retail investors into tax advantaged products, specifically VCT, EIS and Octopus’s Inheritance Tax Service. The team manages these funds under discretionary, lower risk mandates so structures its investments to provide as much capital protection as possible. Funds are raised continuously, so FUM and the team are growing rapidly. The team currently comprises 15 investment professionals and is supported by a team of 7 accountants. This is an innovative business which is constantly seeking out new investment opportunities in existing and new sectors. The portfolio is currently invested across dozens of underlying companies in 5 broad sectors: mezzanine financing, media financing, ticketing, renewable energy and general corporate funding. The Investment Manager will create their own deal structures, analyse and negotiate changes to those suggested by others and ensure investments are run in accordance with the approvals that the Investment Manager achieves from the Octopus Investment Committee.
